Investiture ceremony for Judge Brad Touchstone is January 27

An investiture ceremony for new 15th District Circuit Judge Brad Touchstone will be held on Jan. 27 at 11 a.m. at the Lamar County Courthouse, 203 Main Street in Purvis.

Senior Circuit Judge Prentiss G. Harrell will administer the ceremonial oath of office. Judge Touchstone began his term of office on Jan. 1. It is traditional to hold a formal investiture ceremony soon after the start of a judge’s term.

Gov. Tate Reeves will be a special guest at the ceremony and will give remarks. Gov. Reeves appointed Judge Touchstone to a vacancy created by the Dec. 31, 2022, retirement of Judge Anthony Mozingo. Judge Touchstone’s one-year appointive term is through December 31, 2023.

The Fifteenth Circuit Court District includes Jefferson Davis, Lamar, Lawrence, Marion and Pearl River counties.

Judge Touchstone, 43, of Purvis, previously served for four years as Lamar County Court and Youth Court Judge. He was a state Representative for House District 101 from January 2016 through December 2018. He served as County Attorney for Lamar County 2010-2015.

He is a graduate of Pearl River Community College, earned bachelor and masters of business administration degrees from Millsaps College, and earned a law degree from Mississippi College School of Law.
